Project overview
The Paracel carbon project is a pioneering large-scale afforestation, reforestation and conservation initiative in Paraguay, expected to sequester over 100 MtCO2 over the project lifetime. Spanning over 200,000 hectares, this ambitious project aims to transform degraded land into a vast carbon sink.
Through carbon capture, sustainable timber supply, and conservation of natural ecosystems, the Paracel carbon project contributes to global climate mitigation efforts. Additionally, it provides socio-economic benefits to local communities by offering employment while also setting Paraguay up as leading forestry nation. This project exemplifies scalable nature-based carbon removal solutions.

Our approach
Paracel applies a landscape approach that integrates productive plantations with local ecosystems. Environmental monitoring covers carbon capture, soil quality and biodiversity, while restoration activities create biological corridors between fragmented habitats.
Community collaboration, environmental education and job training form part of the project model. Water, soil and biodiversity management plans support responsible natural-resource use across a project designed to scale over time.
