Project overview
The Burapha Agroforestry carbon project is a large-scale agroforestry initiative in Laos expected to remove up to 15 MtCO2 while establishing a sustainable supply of high-quality timber on previously degraded lands and contributing to conservation efforts. This project integrates reforestation with sustainable agricultural practices across vast areas, planting trees and inviting local farmers to cultivate crops on the newly regenerated land.
Burapha Agroforestry supports local communities by providing employment and increasing food security through the agroforestry model. This project demonstrates the positive impact that nature-based carbon removal projects can have on climate mitigation and sustainable development.

Our approach
Plantations are established on eligible degraded land and managed within a broader mosaic that includes intercropping, conservation set-asides and riparian buffers. This integrated approach keeps carbon, production and ecological outcomes connected.
Carbon stocks are monitored through defined project procedures and independently verified. Alongside climate results, the project maintains ongoing engagement with local communities involved in plantation activities and land use.
